he still has headaches and issues with his neck, and still going through PT afaik, but I haven't seen him in a couple months, and he's about the drop off the face of the planet until after tax season, hah.

for the most part he's recovered just fine.

Thats slightly fraudulent isnt it?

A convertible top is arguably a "wear item" not covered by comprehensive insurance.

dash is basically destroyed as a whole, but parts are ok, like the center bezel and vents/stereo stuff

headlamps are not available

btw, made a call to the place, spoke with the owner (Vic) 818-786-2474 and found this:

You'll need the rear piece that says:

Top Only or Window Only (individual sections) - 5 year warranty

For mine, I need the 03-04 Cobra piece that includes the vinyl above the glass, along with the bottom part of the rear glass as one piece. It's gonna run me $219.00 for the Black twillfast Cloth.

For your GT, since they use sailcloth, will cost you $199.00 (includes rear glass, the vinyl above it along with the sailcloth piece below the glass...basically the complete rear window section).

***ALSO, the vinyl attached to the top of the rear window is laminated and not glued. I presume the lamination process here involved heating the vinyl onto the glass to stick which is consistent with lamination processes.

Installer shop they recommend is:

Auto Upholstery by AJ
8820 Amigo Ave,
Northridge, CA 91324

I spoke with George at that place 818-886-2510 and he quoted me $125 for the install. They will need the car for 1/2 a day.

So, total cost for the same exact factory matching piece installed by a pro will run you a grand total of $324

Interesting.

So far I have yet to encounter such a low bid on such a job. Most of the times when "we do" jobs like this we sub it out and make zip on it due to the cost. Mind you we have only done these for insurance jobs and they are hardly known as "big spenders".

I am curious if they actually do everything entailed but if they are willing to warranty their work, I guess it works out for all.

I am curious to check out their work so if somone uses these guys, I would like to see the result.

well I know of a shop down in San Diego right next to where the notorious shop DPR was that said he'd do a full install for 650 + cost of the top or use any top brought to them as long as it was new. And this guy did very good work.... was a small shop that only had room for 2 cars at any given time. So attention to detail was definetly there.
Only problem for me was their distance....
If this guy can get near that number with a warranty then thats a decent price.

Yeah, that sounds about right.

Like I said, I hope these dudes pan out and it is all legit but I am still a little hesitant as I have NEVER heard of a price like that short of Paco's Autobody or Azteka Mofles if you get my drift.

WOW, that is awesome!
Thank you very much. So far the cheapest place I know of charges 200 dollars for the window and 200 for the labor. I know they do a good job because that is where my brother took his car to get his convertible window replaced as well. I will definitely try this place out though. Thanks!
