You could run a by-pass filter and not drain oil for over 30k. Its all in the products you use.

The mustang gets motorcraft at about 5k ish especially since it only really see's highway use. The fox gets same with the exception of a leaky pan like nick mentioned; so when I dont feel lazy it gets changed.

The powerstroke gets its oil changed when it doesn't run anymore since the oil runs the fuel injection I know when it needs a changing. LOL, kidding.

Half a bottle of water wetter (or whatever the RP version is called) at every oil change will keep the oil temps down and aid in lubrication. I will usually just fill my oil filter with it before installing it...

96GT gets oil change every 5k but a 1qt is added every 2.5k cuz it drinks alittle...

But I have over 220k miles on it and it still runs.

The bullitt who knows it drank 4qts in 1 month...Been down for a year.

That's what it was designed for, but look at the properties of it. Reducing corrosion, assists in lubricating, etc...all that stuff is good for the oil too. No ill side effects on any of my 3 cars and the mpgs went up slightly as well.

I dunno, man. I think I'll stick to putting Purple Ice in my radiator only.

I've use water additives in my other cars before. Not in the 4V. Everytime I check the fluids every two weeks, it doesn't seem to use any except for the windshield washer fluid. My coolant needle is just a tick back from the half-way mark towards the cool side and doesn't move, even on the hottest of hot days.

Which now reminds me (and not to hijack this thread, but we are in the subject of maintenance)........my car is near the 50K mark. Any suggestions on what to do for maintenace??
